4wd places to go on Kapiti coast or Wairarapa?

Post by Slideways »

Hey Guys,

Was looking at taking a long weekend and staying either in Otaki on the Kapiti Coast or maybe Martinborough/Wairarapa area.

Are there any public access area's the girlfriend and I (and possibly the dog) can take the 70 series? Any rivers or tracks with a nice view or something? Nothing too serious because we'll just have the one vehicle but it does have a PTO winch if we get stuck.

I've been to Ocean beach which is really nice and wouldn't mind a longer look around but somewhere new to go would be a bonus 8)

PM if you don't want to let the world know of your secret prestine spot!

There is odlins road, up behind Waikanae but would be recommended that ya have atleast 2 vehicles (rumors of slips etc)

I would be happy to cruise up there but would need to be after the Palmy crew's visit to Rallywoods

Ashhurst campground in palmy is well equipped and cheap, can do the north range road next to the windfarm as well which is a shiny drive now, maybe meet the locals (jafa, etc), castlepoint/riversdale is another place
