noob question: which...nut/bolt/washer

Post by williamhamilton »

Ok a VERY noob question here but here I go anyway...

During the removal of my roll cage (during a now expanded - lets paint the tray in the 40 exercise) I have found that although all the bolts seem to be rated (8.8) not all have spring washers and some have spring washers and flat washers and one has no washers at all, some are also slightly different sizes too (length and head). I am planning to replace all bolts with new which I redo a fair bit of the toy.

What is the why what wherefors when it comes to nuts, bolts and washers? Is there a pre-existing reference for this or can we make this thread one?

cheers
