Maratoto Kauri planting 30 Aug
With still 100 young Kauri to go into the ground at Maratoto, I'm heading that way on 30 August. Volunteers welcome to help plant and to do some cutting back of overhanging vegetation along the trail. 9.30 am at the Wires Rd ford.

Be a first for me, realise its a working bee and not a joy ride but is lwb safari with half worn AT tyres ok to get to jobsite, little experience in offroad on four wheels. If ok well be there

If its been wet, ATs are not the weapon of choice on that track. You might be able to share a ride with some of the other more capable ones. But then if its been dry, your luck really.

cheers TJ, will wait and see what weather is like, by my luck do you mean possible damage or traction problems, as still shiny truck at this stage, got a post looking for 2nd hand set of mud tyres and rims so keeping fingers crossed, was going to bring misses and little fulla so hitching ride may be tricky.

traction probs if its wet, its got quite a rocky hard base but theres plenty a real boggy soft rutted areas which are real soft in the wet season

Yeah its more traction problems than anything else. This is only for the tree planting expedition. If you venture out to some other parts of the same track further up, panel damage is also a possibility.
