SR20 Engine mount(s) needed

Post by downunderxj »

My wifes '95 Nissan Bluebird SSS failed it's last warrant due to the top engine mount rubber being completely stuffed. So I am looking for a new replacement engine mount. Not sure of the condition of any other mounts, it was only the top one that failed the WOF.

Anybody know the best (i.e. cheapest) source of quality replacement items
Local Nissan Parts Store
Ripco
Supercheap
etc

Thanks

Last time i went to PAP for an engine mount, they were all cracked! Ended up having to get one from the manufacturer.

Is it one of the circular engine mounts? If so- its very easy to repair using a tube of urethane.

Same engine mount.

And i bet all these stuffed engine mounts are the front engine mount...am i right?

The Primera and the Bluebird are essentially the same car with different sheet metal so most of the mechannical parts should swap straight over.

I had a Primera and then a gtir Pulsar...dead easy engines to work on...just dont try working on one of their 4wd gearboxes...cos thats a beeyotch!

yep, got one out of a '91 Primera with the same SR20 engine. while it is not perfect it is in a lot better condition than my wife's one. Her's is a '92, not a '95 as I first listed.

The shape of the metal housing is very slightly different but I am pretty sure it will go

The rubber does have a small split in it - is there anything I can do to fill that split so it is not obvious to the wof man, and helps glue it together.

Thanks

yes.

either Urethane (sold as product window weld) or just that black silastic silicone in the green/white packaging- used for sealing windows also. silastic stuff available from Repco. Unsure about Urethane.

Success at last

The engine mount that I sourced from Pick a Part was from a '91 Primera and while they looked the same initially there was a slight difference in the hole placement.

Got a matching one from a Nissan Wrecker on Hutt Park Road on Saturday, and one hour later had the warrant all sorted. This one cost me $45. Not too bad.

Thanks for all your input
Cheers
