coxsy wrote:hi, a lift, rear locker, pto remove, the bumpers, 33'' or 35 '' with turbo the tie rod and drag link should be replaced with heavy duty one's [getting the myself slowly] diesel will do 570 kms per tank , if just you can remove the rear seats for less weight more rooom [ will happen when that 40 is running] and don't pussy around with muds buy simexs for it

Hi Coxsy,
1) Lift - Check, 2" I think
2) Rear Lokka - WIll have to wait for a coupla months
3) PTO - Check
4) Remove bumpers - for angle of attack?
5) 33" or 35" - What is standard? What would I need to do to fit 35"s without rubbing? Would I have to redo gearing for speedo?
6) Turbo - Will have to wait until after I've bought the missus a ring...
7) Removable rear seats - Check
8) Why Simex's over Coopers? You reckon I should go for the Extreme Trekker?

Cheers

Thanks Coxsy, knocked a few hundy off so I was pretty stoked. That's right, couldn't remember I looked at so many... 2" lift and 33" tyres which need replacing (probably Simex's now) but she runs well. Strong and no major issues. I'm not sure if the speedo is right. Probably have to test following a mate or something (hence the speeding ticket).

35"s would be awesome for clearance, I'll just have to see what the budget allows coz I'd like to have the speedo accurate too.

Hey Skid, See pics above. Going up Mt Ruapehu till Friday but looking to go out for a test run on the weekend. Gonna find me some dirt! 8)

Skid : Sorry mate, I didn't take those pics, wish I had though it's a wicked location, somewhere up in Aucks according to the dude I got the truck off... It's a bit like some of the farms out in Ohariu Valley though if you can get access...

Coxsy, is that to change the speedo to show the correct speed on larger tyres? Would make it a lot easier than changing the gearing. Would be sweet to get some Simex 35" Extreme Trekker to get around the firewood loop.

I didn't get that Safari yet Stinky, it is on a tender process and their terms and conditions don't allow for recourse if it goes tits up. Still considering that one and have found a couple other ones that I'm quite interested in, 1 being a LWB LPG model in good nick that does 550K's on a filling. Recommended? Another one in Aucks which has already been lifted so less mods I need to do for now.

I reckon short would probably suit my needs better, especially with the points you all raised. I don't particularly want to be the tower as much as the towee  I'd like to take you up on that offer Curly, would be good to see it in action. I was told that you need a class 2 to tow with them tho..? True?

Diesel Turbo sounds like the way to go, but LPG? Not even dual fuel? Not too sure. Do all Petrol stations have LPG? Kinda hard to carry a jerry can or transfer fuel if you're out in the sticks... What about the power differences? Is LPG as strong as a diesel?

My needs are simple. I need a strong, bulletproof capable machine to play with. Good to take around Welly and up to Ruapehu and not really planning on carrying too many peeps. Towing mates out of mud must be effortless, just so I can rag them later

Theres one in the Orua river in Feilding,.. Safari that is.
