1994 LWB 2.8 Pajero Questions

Hi Everyone,

A mate of mine had just purchased a pajero 2.8 Turbo Diesel and he was wanting to know a little about somethings that are happening with it.

1. When you drive along it squeeks from the rear driveshaft and worse in reverse I have greesed up the U-joints but it has made no difference.

2. When driving up hills and the truck is under load there is a constant clicking noise from the back like something is hitting but we havnt been able to find anything and thing the driveshaft could be cracked but dont know. A mechanic couldnt even tell him what was wrong.

3. the Auto trans changes gear when it shouldnt e.g when going up a hill he will put it is L (1st gear) but it changes up to 2nd gear and when driving along it will change gear randomly when it doesnt need to its like it slips into O/D then changes back out even when he leaves it out of O/D it still does it.

Any help would be great. I couldnt help him much because I have a Gen 1 v6 pajero and didnt know to much about the diesels.
