Seats - Vitara

Post by Apm83 »

Anyone put aftermarket seats into a Vitara?
Any tips?

I've acquired a real nice set of Corolla FXGT ones, thought would be a nice changeover...

I put a Momo fixed bucket in one of the three-doors and it was a bit of a mission because of the unusual mount setup. The standard seats have the rails at very different heights and in the end I found the easiest way was to pull the old seat to bits and use the bottom of the frame, including the mounts. I had a section of the uprights cut out and re-welded, then bolted through the seat-base frame onto the Momo.

Whatever seats you put in are going to require certification unless you can use standard factory mounts.

this is a headache for me too,iv got some nice buckets to put
in but after a tried on the original seat base found it to be too
high (helmet hits roof) and couldnt get them back far
enough (roll cage),so have to rip out standard bases move cage
back and start
from scratch-moral of the story? be very careful what you buy
esp if its a road truck (mines not)
good luck, Al
