Could be one of the wires out of the back. This is a common method used by some to beat RUC, cut the wire!
rain, hail, sleet or snow, we go!

could also be the little gears that turn the numbers over, have you tried pushing the restset button several times, could be stuck.

easy fix .on the back of patrol speedos is an electrical plug with six little wires that connects speedo to odometer .if plug "falls" out speedo works but odometer doesn,t

Mine also does this 'jamming' trick sometimes when resetting the trip counter. Do need to accidentally knock that plug out tho ;)

I got the dash apart in my safari atm so i thought i would fix a few little things that annoy me while its apart

does anyone know which color wire in the speedo wiring loom i need to cut in order to stop the speedo from clocking over??

and is there anyway i can stop the odomoter itself without stopping the speedo??

disclaimer: odomoter will only be disconnected for when I go offroad

if you look at the back of the speedo there is a small plug with 6 tiny wires in it .if you follow them back to the circuit board 2 of them end up together (possably black and green!)these are the neg for each stage of the odometer motor .these can be cut and a switch put in "for offroad use" and then you are done .note : be careful when you strip the wires back they will pull out of the motor very easy :( then its new odo motor time ,know this from experience)hope this helps cheers sig

Put a switch on the black wire.
