What did you do to your Jeep today?
Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?
Greased the front end on my TJ. Repainted and greased the rear drive shaft as well. It was just surface rust but was starting to look a bit old.

Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?
Fitted a new oxygen sensor to the Cherokee, had noticed fuel consumption was getting worse, and it just didn't have the up and go I expected from the 4.0l. Also quite sooty around the exhaust tip.
So a new Bosch oxygen sensor from Summit Racing in the US. Cost me $US 68 shipped to a friend in California who then put in the post for a further $US 8.
Took it for a blat around the block, what a difference, this thing has some real up and go now
. Don't know why I didn't pick up on it earlier. Now need another trip up to Taihape to check out the fuel consumption.

Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?
got filthy top to bottom front to rear, and a fair bit of the inside too.
Blatted round some maize fields preparing the tracks for the food drive fun event. Bog run, figure 8, sled pull, logs, tyres, speed section and drags will all figure. Today was spent "assisting drainage" in the wettest of the two paddocks, and trialling the drag area..... and a few hours cleaning up after.
Tomorrow i hope to pull off my rock sliders (to dontate to RJ) and will start building my new ones.

Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?
Finally got a WoF yesterday! Failed twice last weekend on rear brake imbalance so I took the lazy option and left it with someone to fix. Probably just as well as they fixed it my machining the drums. I also took the opportunity to get the alignment done while it was there so for the first time since I got it the steering wheel points straight ahead when the front wheels do.
Today it's probably just going to be used rather than spannered on, but just to take the trailer to the tip a couple of times.
I might get round to putting a front recovery hook on as a temporary measure until I get two proper mounts to spread the load and I need to adjust the rear muffler hanger as it rattles against the new rear springs for some reason - presumably it got levered against somehow when I was swapping the old ones out.

Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?
Good news, got the WoF for the TJ this morning. Bad news (or better news, depends on the perspective), front lower control arm bushing on axle end is starting to show signs of stress (minor cracks are evident). I have been told to replace them before the next WoF. So I guess I will have to change them with (or change the bushing):

Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?
Good excuse - I thought I was going to be up for that this last WOF because the previous one had warned me they were on the way out. However this WOF failed with other issues but the bushes didn't even get a mention. Oh well!

Re: What did you do to your Jeep today?
Gave the old girl a polish, pre the Charity Food Run next Saturday. Then ordered (finally) my upper front and rear adjustable control arms so I can then get around to fitting up the hi-clear skid plate. (THEN the mission will be complete!!!!)
After much too-ing and fro-ing I settled on these fellas http://www.ironman4x4fab.com/TJ_Inventory.html not only was their shipping quote out of the US far cheaper than anyone else (previous shipping quotes ranged from $260USD from Rustys to $160USD from Quadratec) coming in at $125.00 for shipping and totalling $523NZD all up. I decided to stay away from the "johnny-joint" version primarily because it seems there is no-one in the southern hemisphere that do them for replacement parts. The design of the bushes in these seem to perform on a par with the johnny-joint version when $ for $ comparisons are evaluated.
Another reason for going with ironman4x4fab was the promptness of response and how Andy was prepared to go into detail about the product when asked for some more info. His service was outstanding.

Look good. I deal with Rokmen for the same reason, its a very small manufacturer and they take pride in their work. Dave is wonderful to deal with (was very helpful with the gas tank skid). Rokmen have a version with rubber bushing on both ends. I try to stay away from poly bushing now (like you are staying away from Johny Joints

I wasn't aware of JK Racing making parts for Jeeps (commercially). Might have to talk to Bernie.

Im sure Bernie has all sorts of things hidden away that we can only dream of TJ. Never had a problem getting Poly bushings here. Some might need an overnight freezing and a trim but they do the job.
Yes Coxy, too late for me, order is in and money has exchanged hands.

I have seen Bernie's handy work on his Jeep, just didn't realise that he was making and selling components as well. Hmmm....
Anyway, found another brilliant idea for the rear shocks to keep them away from spring buckets:

Not today, but yesterday I got confirmation from Greg that he has JKS diconnects in stock and also a YJ rear brake hose so I have those on the way to me.
Other than that I saw the XJ today while I was busy doing other stuff...

I just cleaned mine, but I wish I COULD do something like this. The guy has done everything in 3.5 days.

Listen to the start-up sound on the video linked in the first post. This is beautiful. The guy bought a two post hoist to do the job in his garage!
