V8 trayback we all know he want's to do it....lol
ironic part was he kept saying yesterday that he really needs a beater to keep the 80 as his daily....
as for beercruisers quick escape out the window he didn't even get wet....
and he should be home by now.
bolo and suzuki1k both got some good pics so hopefully they will be loaded up soon.....
truckless and shall remain so till she who wears the pants says otherwise.................lol
Re: WANTED URGENT: 80 series snorkle for Skid
If the laptop was off theres a small chance it will be ok as long as its dried naturally, depends how long it was in the water as well as the water ingress may have been minimal.......
let me know if you want it looked at SKID...., easy enough to check it first...

Re: WANTED URGENT: 80 series snorkle for Skid
well even with my advanced mechanical skills, I'm fairly certain the motor is fukt
theres water everywhere, drained motor, started on glow plugs, but there was more water coming in horizontally than there was in the motor, so I had to call it a night.
Now I know I was a stupid cnut for driving where I did, had a bit of brain fade as I had already avoided that deep part on the way up the river.
So yes I' m a dickhead, but it doesnt end there and you I don't need a lot of comments about this coz its bad enough as it is, but for the last few months I've been meaning to do something about the lack of insurance on my vehicle, and I havent, so I basically own a parts truck at the moment,
wot a stoopid cnut skid is
oh well, more to do tomorrow
thanks again to all those who helped in the recovery

Yes i think your right, even got 6 of them haha!
But if the turbo is full of water you probably want to get it off and see if you can save it asap and see what is still ok as it'l make it cheaper

Re: WANTED URGENT: 80 series snorkle for Skid
Did it hydraulic, or did he turn it off before it could?
If he hydrauliced it at anything above idle (700 rpm) there is a fairly good chance that he will be farking luckey to get away with only bending a few rods.
I drowned a 2h a long time ago and it bent 2 rods enough to break bits out of the block on the bore, and that was on the started motor as I thought I had just bleed all the water out through the glow plugs, but there must have still been some in the inlet.
Tis a real bastard Skiddy, hope you manage to get her sorted.

Oh man, I'm sorry to hear about that Skid. It now seems that I had a lucky (cheap) escape from Mark's river compared to you. Now it will at least be known as Skid's river
I got a text yesterday saying "Skid just did a 'Mark' in RW River". My first response was "Awesome!". Then I thought about it more and realised that his truck didn't have a snorkel and started feeling bad for my reply. Then I got the dreaded "His truck is dead apparently" and felt even worse.
Some interesting comparisons:

Re: WANTED URGENT: 80 series snorkle for Skid
TBH, you need to get in there asap and do some damage control!!!!
What i would do, would be to spend some time and see if you can get it to run.
Even if it's running like a bag of shit, you will be drying the moisture from the engine.
If you can't get it to run, then pull the glow plug's out again and add a liberal amount of CRC/WD40 into each cylinder and crank the motor over a few time's.
Wip the turbo off and dose that as well.
You want to be trying to stop thing's rusting, as chance's are, pull the head and sump off, throw a couple of con-rod's and valve's at it and it might well live to fight another day.
.......if you can prevent damage occurring from it sitting around wet............
Really, you need it in the work shop this coming weekend for the strip down, any longer and your risking the rust setting in....
What a bugger eh
Maybe PM Ben, he might have an option for you if you got the right $$$$$$$ ..........

Cheers dude, but unfortunately its still known as Marks River, coz we both have the same first name and you did it first.
Mine was actually deeper than the pics that have been posted so far, the water was just lapping across the bonnet at its deepest moment, Bolos mate may have some slightly better pics which should surface at some stage, which may show it being a bit deeper.
Its fairly gutting and is going cost a shitload of money I don't have, so it may be sitting for a while which wont do it any favours either
Oh well, the rain has just stopped, so time to go out and drain more water and pul glow plugs and injectors to see if we can get more water out and then attempt the key turning part

Bugger, I forgot that small detail!
As part of my experience, I would recommend whipping the starter motor off and pulling it apart to check it's not full of water before attempting to use it. Mine fried itself and caught fire, sending me running around looking for a fire extinguisher!
