PTO Winch parts

Post by Pete »

Hi all,

Am trying ti help a mate out withna broken Nissan PTO winch ( I drive a toyota :D ).

He has chewwed out the brass gears - he thinks it was caused by a bearing failure. I havene't seen it in pieces yet.

Any one any clues in re building these ? He is going to try Nissan for parts - or is there a better source ?

Thanks,

pete

Try Coxsy in Nth Island, he may have some spare parts around. He's on this forum, PM him.

best to pick up second hand winch if you can, pretty sure it would cost quite a bit to rebuild gear up.
If the wrong oil is used it they well chew the bronze gear out.

Total Carter EP 680 is one of the correct oils you can use(normal diff/gearbox oil wont cut it)

Its not bearing failure, its normal wear and tear and is the same as your Toyota one. The amount its chewed out is often a function of oil type used though, use Total Carter EP 680 or ELF Reductelf SP680.

Flip the gear over so it runs on the other face and buy another winch unit as a spare.

modern gear oils dont have the same issues of the older oils attacking the bronze gears as additives have changed a lot so thats not an issue. having said that it is important to use correct oils for applications, the worm and bronze gear drives here at work use mobil gear 600xp or you can go the synthetic way with shc630 like i have to reduce temperatures and be able to run at higher speeds
