Air Box's

Post by NJV6 »

Anyone got any ideas on what sort of an airbox I should run? For a 3.9L V8.

Basically has anyone come across anything that is easy to mount in a tight place yet enough flow - prob looking at a cylindrical one?

I got mine from cummins, it has 75mm inlet and outlet and is good for up 2 6.2l turbo diesel
will take a pic if I get home in time tonight

Probably not quite what your after if you've got space issues but I like petefj40's pod filter inside a sealed box hooked up to his snorkle.... shit how can you not like any of petes shit :?

Might be worth a quick wade through his thread to keep the ideas bouncing

I'm running one of these in the POS (It may be too small, however its connected to the snorkel and betterer than the NO FILTER that it was running before), looking at maybe building a custom airbox when the bodyswop is done as there is limited room under the bonnet, its restricted by the snorkel anyway.....

Ah yes, that is the sort of thing Jerry. Yea Hilux one would be a bit hard to mount.

Warren, a Rangie one would be what I am after as they are similar to the one Jerry has posted.

mine is a stainless housing with a pod filter inside. 3 inch inlet and 3 inch outlet. Works sweet, i plan on running a pre filter in the snorkel as well and am also going to tap a water drain in the bottom of the housing with a clear tube to see if im getting any in there.

i think some of the disco v8's had something similar to what jerry has there but steel and with brackets to mount it all up. i bloody had one kicking round under my bench at work but when things turned to custard all sorts got raided including that.

Cheers Sadam. I think you're talking shit tho. :D
But seriously.
If he can find something that will do the job without going to the length I went to get mine sorted would be the best option? Corey did a mint job of the airbox.
Let us know what you end up doing.

yeah sorry about the pix. I did a big clean up a few months back.

The airbox was made as big as pos and as free flowing as pos. There's a 4 inch hole at each end of this sucker.
I was luck I didn't do the motor any damage while I ran it with no filter.

You might notice a few changes from the first pic to last.
