giday not sure if this is the correct place for this but here goes
ive decided to coil spring my daihatsu rocky (2.8 f7# model)
im not sure of the best and easiest way to do it, it will be a long term project as im going to start doing the research now and start collecting the bits as well as the coils im wanting to convert the steering to the hydrolic type that you see on the trails trucks
1st off what do i need to do the coils?
would it be easier to just rape and pillage all the bits of a already coiled vehicle such as a safari or 80 seris
ie take all the mounts arms etc and modify them onto my chasis and diffs, already got heaps of flex so im not wanting to loose any of that as it really needs more
2nd off how do i go about doing it?
and 3rd how do i go about doing the steering setup is it a setup that is found in other vehicles and modified or what?
any and all help would be good thanks

Re: going coils
We thought long and hard about it after i farked another front axle.
Using a donor can make it easier, if your chassis is a similar width. Blizz's are fairly narrow so might not be as simple.
Leaf sprung luxes are about the same so coiled XN130's will probably be the smart/easier option for the rear. Then shave and coil any front lux diff.
Good news is the steering set-up is cross over from factory, not push pull like Luxes.
Also for some reason, you already have a panhard like rod in there... I only found that out last Sunday.
So there are some bits you will be albe to re-use with a little tinkering.
Your diffs are 3.7 ratio too right?
With 4.3 lux diffs (like we were looking at) 35" tyres would reslut in a good final drive ratio.
I found a 4.3 lsd rear axle with coils, bucket, radius arms and panhard in Omaru for $80 on TM.
Fronts are harder to get now though.

Re: going coils
yeh they are 3.3 ratio, at this stage i cant afford to go to the lux diffs as much as i would love to, think when i can afford it i will go to 80seris diffs as they are becoming really common these days, its just the mounts and is it trailing arms i think their called that im wondering about what to do with. thought i could give it a try and learn how to do it on the daihatsu diffs seeing as im going to change them in the next year or 2
