It is looking like we have yet another really good new event and I know there are some guys confirmed from the South Island. So national bragging rights are at stake, you could say it is time to put up or shut up!
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
Is this going to go along the lines that if you comply with your series rules you can enter.. ie. SI vehicles that don't comply with NI rules and NI vehicles that don't comply with SI rules?
The clubmans in the south also have a 33 inch tyre size limit and must have a WOF which differs widely to NI. Glen
To all SOUTH ISLAND WINCH TRUCKS. Pleases have a look at the challenge rules and then look at your truck set up and ANY thing you feel is different in your truck to our rules please let me know and I will make a call if a Rule mod is required. Regarding the tyre size If you wont to race on tyres under the club class size(36.5) that is fine with me. Taupo is not muddy and there is no deep ruts (yet). A small light truch on 31 inch tyres will do better up here. You should look at the width more than the height, Just a tip off.
We want the South Isand to come and play so here is your chance. Please remember safety first and all else can be sorted if we talk it through.
I have put in the entry OTHER CLASS this is there if we get a lot of buggy boys (other type) wantig to play.
I have to back up 100% what Klem has said. The whole idea of this NI and SI comp is to get everyone together and have a race. So apart from safety rules, we will just do what is needed to create a level playing field. If you have competed in a WC this year then it is most likely you can race!
The last thing that we want is people not coming because they think they don't comply. Also be very aware that we will ensure that any eligiblilty issues are dealt with before people even leave home.

Please get your entrys in asap. Payment can be later if you are still doing repairs to your truck. Realy need to know Who is keen to come and what class. At the moment there is onle 7 Challenge class (3xsouth island) and one club class. You can post your entrys taupo 4wd club fax our entry 073774972 Email performancemechanical@xtra.co.nz Cheers Klem

Also in saying that I dont want to travel all that way to compete against 1 other truck so heres hoping some more put their hand up too.
Toy - Zuk chassis tub, hilux 4.88 axles and transfer, Nissan CA18DE motor and auto trans, sc12 supercharger, 32 10'5 simex, twin motor 8274 custom freespool. Well the parts are all there in various corners of the shed

Cheers for the offer but my sister and brother in law/coey live in Ham. If we come it sounds like truck will go on tranporter and we'll do a down friday back sunday night (bit of a mish but thems the joys of kids) Coey also has previous engagement that weekend so still a few things to sort before a final commitment. Fingers crossed it all works ou though.

Will put the entry form in the mail tomorrow.... Any chance of an account number so we can just put the money straight through as we don't have a cheque book
My usual coey has a previous engagement for the weekend of this event and is unable to attend.
My possible replacement is Darinz coey, John. Does anyone have an issue with me having a coey that has a number of years of Challenge Class coey experience?
If there are issues I will try and find another one rather than start fights but at this stage he is the obvious choice given he is already part of the extended team (and the only one of them that will fit in a Zuk)
Thoughts / comments asap so I can confirm my entry.
Dan

Just an up date. Challenge class is fulling up with some past competitors making sounds about getting the cobwebs off there trucks and coming to play. Club class is a lot slower to full up but is starting to happen.
Club class people if you are in Taupo early and would like to come out and watch the Challenge boys you are very welcome to come out just might need a 4wd.We will be leaving town at 1pm and there is about 50km to the site. We will be going to a pub between the day nite stage so bring some money and your togs.(pool is free entry) If you are coming out just drop me a line with numbers.
Challenge guys and marshals will have tea supplyed on friday night and bring togs for a hot swim.
The night stage starts and finish on top of a ridge so bring warm gear we will try and get some lights up there.
The club bank number is 03-0430-0245-905-00 Westpac Taupo4wd club Please put last name and truck number as referance.
The night stage is about 20mins of drive time and there could be a winch if the driver slips ot the track. The track is a old loging track and we will be putting two trucks on at a time with a 10min gap.
One of the trucks from the south Isand will be short of a navie for the first two stages and will require some one to fill in. The question is Is there any one in club that might like to help them out or i have some one here.
All the coeys will be pleased to know I winched meself & a big ass strainer post up one of the hills on the Friday stages so you buggers don't have to get out the ground anchors.
My Prado currently holds all the stage records at Reporoa See you all in 3 weeks!
Hi guys. Just an update on numbers. There is 5 club class entered to date and 15 Challenge with 3 of them from the South Island.
www.beyond4x4.co.nz have come up with a special deal for those with out ground anchors. These can be found on the Web site and are local made By Alan and tryed and tested for many years in winch challenges. FIRMA-GRIP is most suited for the Taupo soil. Drop him a line and he will sort you a deal.
Posted my entry Wednesday. All the required passes were granted (work and home for me and coey)
See you in 2 weeks.
