First of all, we went down to the river that is really close to me, done a shallow river crossing and then got bellied out on a rock, with 2 tires just digging at the loose stones, so we stopped trying to push it out, grabed the shovel and attempted to move rocks from out underneath.
That didnt work either. so we then attemped to put bits of wood and what not under the tires and jack up the back, front and side. that didnt work either.
So i ran up to my house, and saw that a person over the road had a grunty 4x4 toyota land cruizer, with a good tow rope, so i went and asked him if he could give us a pull out, and he kindly said yes. so after about 30 mins of being stuck in the water, at the hieght where it just started to seep in through the drivers door, we managed to get it out.
I lernt from that, dont drive over roacks, and thurorly (sp) check the track ahead of you.
Then we took it down to the other area, where quite alot of 4x4s go and have a bit of fun. this time with my mates hilux ute too, and a rope.
We had fun for about 3 hours, and then it came time to start heading home.
We decided that we would do a hill climb, up to the gravel road that lead to his parked up hilux. i put her in 2 whell drive, to see if i could make it, and if that failed i was going to try it in 4 wheel drive.
So i got out of my truck, looked at the area in front, all was clear as far as i could see, so i got back in my truck, and started to get into position to climb the hill.
I put my foot on the gas and next thing i knew i was in a rut, passenger doors not being able to open because they where half underground, and the roll meter read 20.
So I tried to reverse out, but my wheels were spinning. this time i wasnt bellied, the whole side was causeing too much friction to move, and my front tires wouldnt turn side to side because of the rut. The reason why i got into the rut, was because that pesky grass decided to grow over it, so we couldnt see any sort of rut, just a track leading up the hill.
my friend then attempted to get me out in hiss rwd hilux ute, but as he was trying to get to me his truck got stuck. so he called his dad, with his brand new 2005 hilux, and pulled the ute out, but my terrano was still stuck after him trying to pull me out.
so i got a ride home, and called my friend with an isuzu Bighorn, he came and pick me up, took me down to the river and we sarted to hook it up. At this point, because my truck was on an angle, the fuel guage was reading near empty, and i was worried that i would get air bubbles in the deisel line. so we managed to pull it out (got to love proper 4x4s, not these sissy stock hilux's) and i drove it home.
suprisingly, no damage to my 4x4, but rear bumper damage to the hilux ute. i lernt 3 leasons. Always bring your spade. Always look very well at the track ahead, and most inportantly, dont rely on a rwd hilux ute as back up.
heres the pics:

as you can see in the last pic i have some pretty decent mud tires on it, they are Savero's i believe, but i need bigger ones for more diff clearnace.
thanks,
