engine tests

Post by Heath »

leak down of 96,90,94,94
compression of 520,500,515,515

Any cause for concern with no 2 down a little? Is that within expected range?

I'm guessing, based on your other post this engine is in a Prado??

Is it a 1KZ-TE??

Compression's are never perfectly even.

I would be relatively happy with the figure's on an older second hand Jap import motor, it could just be a bit of bore glazing from lot's of slow running in traffic and usual engine wear.

It could be an indication of somthing more sinister though, so i would get the water jacket tested for presence of Co etc etc

If that checks out ok, then i would be happy with it. It's not perfect, but then its not new either!!!!!

The max variation is 70lbs so it is probably not a problem.

But as Diesel boy said ,get a CO2 test because prado's crack heads all the time and that can wreak a bore in 2 seconds

Is it using water etc ? Is it over heating going up hills ?

Cheers Richard
