Performance modification to 413 soft top

Post by soft top »

I have a very tidy 1992 Samarui soft top i brought new ,it has 130,000 on the clock has a slight tap noise in the motor mainly when cold suspect piston slap or cracked piston I was thinking about fixing and selling but the only thing i don't like about it is the open road performance so i was thinking of maybe doing the motor up and fitting a calmini carburetor headers and cam shaft and a 2" exhaust they are quoting 24% power increase with the carb has any one used any of these upgrades and also where is a good place to get a overhaul kit (pistons rings bearings gaskets?) Thanks for your help.

could look at the motor out of a holden barina or suzuki swift as they run g13's, the GTI Motors are good as well....., can sometimes pick up whole vehicles cheap on TM.

Theres a 413 in Welly here that is running a supercharger which sounds nice (and goes well apparantly), another common conversion is a 4age.

As a suggestion, if you're going to do the engine up, consider transplanting a G16 Escudo/Vitara motor in instead. They are pretty much bolt-on with the use of a readily available kit which includes adapter plate and engine mount. Then it's also really easy to incorporate power-steering at the same time.

Or you could sell it to me! A tidy soft-top Sami is exactly what I want when I can find one at the same time as I have the money.
