The inlaws auto

Hi guys the inlaws auto gq seems to have lost drive in higher gears but was able to drive on to tow truck. Question is it stuffed time for manuel ,is it may be computer relate problem , is it a possible back yard machanic job, what normally goes wrong with them, help my mother inlaws got a big thum and the wife is inflating it.

get if serviced flushed out filters replaced fit a oil cooler to it as well to help cool it should be fine , big engine big trans these things need regular servicing ,
89 safari, pto winch, 33x15 simexs. sliders,75mm lift . turbo intercoolered

Pull the filter out of it and cut it open to see what is inside. Chances are it is pretty full so it is a very good time to get an overhaul. Doing now before major damage can save over $1500. If you don't get it checked out and keep using it then it can get realy expensive realy quickly.
Then once done you need to completely bypass the factory cooler as that will be full of particles as well. Fit a very good aftermarket coolers and get it regulary serviced and it will be good for another 200k.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

hi just found my patrol manual its not much use.question. wheres the filter who sells them ,do i drop the pan for this and i no there is varios ways and machines for flushing units but being nieve on autos whats best any info appreciated

You have to drop the pan to get at the filter and to be honest if you need to ask you really should get someone else to do it. Auto's are pretty complex. (not saying a filter and fliud change is hard though)

you can get a kit from bnt e.t.c ... roughly $40 well worth it tho.

cheers boys , did the assult last night wasn't hoping for much just cleaned the screen and pan and bingo alls good again.

Just an update.Cleaned the filter a second time after two weeks . Has done 9500ks alls fine so far.

So it just needed a service then? Did you just do oil/filter or get trans flushed too?
