toyota hilux 4WD 1992, will wheel and tyre combo, on to a

Post by mrgeeky »

toyota hilux 4WD 1992.. will wheel and tyre combo fit off it, on to a later 1998 to 2000 4wd hilux..

Im thinking of buying mags and tyres for my Hilux.. 31 x 10.50 x 15's..

Later when I upgrade vehicles, I will want to keep the mags and tyres for the later Hilux.. (swap them over).. Any problems with this? Some one told me I may have offset issues. Is that true?

you should be ok, generally the beam axle wheels will fit a IFS truck but not the other way around

It really depends on if the rims are off a ifs or beam axle hilux....

If it was Ifs, it will be the same offset as yours, if its off a beam, the rims will sit further out, not a problem but ya will need to add flares to cover em for a WOF
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres.... :)

if im correct, you both give opposing views.. Currently its off a 1992 hilux with leaf springs front and rear.... Not independent.. So Im all sweet to go ahead and just buy what ever and wont have to worry about flares later on? Or I will have to have flares later on when I put them on a later model Hilux with IFS? Sorry Im just a little confused with the replys...

Na, ya gotta read carefully

I have said ya can put beam axle rims on a ifs but the rims will stick out further

Kaney stated the same, that beam axle will fit ifs but if ya try to put ifs on to a beam axle, the offset will cause them to hit the caliper etc

clear as mud

cheers guys... really appreciated.. off to buy me a decent set of 31 x 10.50. x 15 mags and tyres for my 1992 Hilux.. Advice really appreciated... This old hilux is a dog so I wont be keeping it long.. Just a hack until I can find the one im looking for.. Im trying to buy a xtra cab wellside, late 90s or early 2000.. Dont appear to be too many about.. Just missed out on a bargain by being too slow. As soon as something that comes up that suits I can swap the mags and tyres over and sell me old junker.. I do appreciate the advice guys.. Really appreciated.. thank you.

sorry, one last question if I may. Some one said I should stick to 8 inch rims? Is this the case?
