Help / Recommendations - 15"x10" or 15"x12&qu

Post by MNC »

Hi Guys,

I`ve found a guy that will widen my existing 15" x 7" wheels off my Safari.

I`ve got a set of 33" x 14" x 15" Boggers sitting at home just waiting for some rims.

The Big question is - should I get the rims widened to 10" or 12" :?: :?: :?:

Pro's - its only $5 more per wheel to get 2" more per rim. If they hold I imagine I`ll have a bigger foot print from the tyre. Would be great to have if I ever go to some bigger (wider) tyres.

Con's - The side of the tyre recommends 10" wide rim, the tyres may come of easily on a 12" rim???, might put alot of pressure on the running gear?

Basically I can`t make up my mind - so would appreciate any helpful suggestions you guys might have. Thanks.

sidewall vulnerability on 12's?

are they legal to widen or not an issue? :)

i'm curious to that also.. there would have to be bead issues wouldnt there?

My wagon is dedicated offroad so not an issue to widen to 12". Yeah I guess if you push the sidewall out further there is more chance of damage - good point.

I`m not so sure about the bead issues but think you may be right. I measured the bead on the tyres which looked to be about 9" wide so 10" rims are already requiring the bead to be forced out by an inch.

Is that a vote for the 10" wide option from you Niblik?

if the tyre recomends 10 then go for 10, if you go wider you have the bead sticking out a long way and the tyre wont be sticking out much paast it for bead protection...

thats my 2c

The Interco web site http://www.intercotire.com/site28.php recommends 10 inch for the B-107 33/14R15 TSL Boggers.

yeah 10" rim is probably the way to go as as more tyres will fit on a 10" rim that a 12" so if you were to change tyres at a later date you wouldn't need different rims. But with all that said said 12" look cool i have been running the same tyres on a set of 12's and have even run 33x12.5x15 hancooks on the same rims for 18 months and havent had any trouble with the sidewalls yet.

Have you got any pics of your Boggers on the 12" rims :?: I would be interested to see them. I`ve just posted a pic of mine on the 10" rims (under Landcruiser for sale thread) - real happy with the improvement over the 7" Safari rims.

hey they look good on new shiney rims! :D just wondering what 10's are worth as i am going to get a set for my mongrels. i have a couple of photos in my '1KZ-TE conversion' album with the boggers and my 'before the drowning' album when my mate run savero's on them.

12" rims do make em look pritty fat. I`m keen to run some low pressures and main deciding factor was that 10" rims would be safer at low psi.

I cracked up at the title of this photo. I`d love to have bigger tyres too but $$$$. One day we`ll have to all get togeather and order a container of 44" Boggers from the States

You should send a message to worthog . He has "a set of 5 10 inch rims beadlocked that fit GQ Nissans " he might be willing to sell you. Cost $110 plus beadlocking and powercoating.

my votes for 10s as well. As you said its a bush wagon so "cool" 8) isn't a good reason to go bigger. If your running low pressure then they will stay on the bead better. You said that you hadn't unseated a bead yet but why push your luck-you know it will only ever happen when your in the shittiest bog you've ever seen!!! bet you wouldn't be worrying about cool then
