Bought one of those 10,000lb chinese winchs about 5 months ago, in that time I have blown two of them

. The output gears keep letting go

. Were warn 8000lb are winching safaris, this was shitting itself

. Sat in the shed looking at it all, and the old warn when I realised

the splines of each motor were the same. All I had to do was get the seized joiner off

. Bit of heat and cold water a couple of times and off it came. I had to shim up the warn casing with steel plate to make it all square when fitting to bullbar as the runva one was bigger by about 6mm

. Got it all square, fitted the fairlead and wound on the cable. Headed up Worsley's spur this afternoon to test it all under load. I was very impressed with what I had put together from three differnet winches

. As the motor is bigger in hp it is somewhat faster then the old warn one

. I feel now I can have peace of mind omewhat in the Reefton Challenge, knowing the gearinbg at least in the winch is a reputable brand

. Buyer beware!
