1) Mt Bee, off Irthing Road about 2 minutes from 5 Rivers (on way to Mossburn).
2) Eyre Creek - turn right past the bridge (over Eyre Creek) immeditely south of Athol (simple track to Shepherds Creek Hut, creek can be interesting beyond that...)
3) Nevis River, turn right onto Nevis Road just north of Garston, comes out at Bannockburn/Cromwell in Central Otago.

As you can tell, I know more familiar with areas at the Central Otago edge of Southland...

I forgot about Mavora...

But, take some care going into Macetown, it can be very easy, but can also present some problems (especially this time of year). There are a lot of hydrauliced vehicles towed out each year. Then again, I have no idea of your ability or vehicle capability, so might be telling you how to suck eggs.

So a 2inch raised surf with a snorkel and mud tires would get in to macetown nice then?

Yeah, with a snorkel you will be fine. Not a difficult track, its just that it is underestimated by muppets sometimes.
