Should really paint it before then to but we shall see what condition it returns form sundays run in.

Trip planning has started.

Are we able to camp Friday night? and is scruiteenering Friday evening of Saturday morning?

There are a number of people camping Friday night in the same place as last year. It will be sign posted. The club room HQ up the hill is reserved for officials and is therefore out of bounds. It is advised that you bring your own “drinking” water.
No trailers past the cattle stop at the bottom of the hill, you will not get them up the access track. Trailer parking will be sign posted. Support vehicles are ok, but if it’s wet under foot you will need a minimum of dam good AT’s (preferably MT’s) to get them in.
Scrutineering will be advised, but at this stage it’s looking like Friday late afternoon/evening for those that around, Saturday morning for those that are not.

Absolutely no tearing around the place please and keep to the formed tracks.

What about taking small car trailers with camping gear to the camp site? Do you mean just transport trailers or all trailers?

You know the track. Difficult ford at times depending on weather and some narrow sections.

Generally speaking small camping trailers should be ok but the ruling is that vehicle trailers are definitely out whatever the weather.

So, its tents or nothing?
Is there nowhere at the start of the farm where caravans/campervans can park?

That's about it i'm afraid. Our arrangements provide for one camping area on the farm on the flat area at the bottom of the hill below the club house. Nowhere else on the farm. Sorry.

The trailer park on the main entry road must not be used for accommodation.

Are spectators allowed? From what I gather we aren't

Yes, spectators are welcome although we are not putting any resources into crowd control.

Spectators must park vehicles at the trailer park or on the main gravel road side before the cattle stop (still leaving clear access for official and emergency vehicles). Any vehicle blocking access will be moved with little regard for consquential damage - be warned.

The location of competition stages is close to the road end for Saturday but a walk up the club access track is required for Sunday.

You must:
Follow all marshal instructions without question.
Keep clear of all competing vehicles and keep off all active stages.
Stay on the uphill side of any stage to minimise risk of personal injury.
Stay in the area of the farm where competition is occurring.
Not offer advice to competitors. They will be penalised if you do.
Not consume alcohol while the event is in progress.

Any person not following the above guidelines may be removed from the event.

Remember, this is a potentially dangerous sport. Please be careful.

Your caravan is so small just get your support crew to carry it in!!

So guess that makes the decision about taking the 25ft caravan a bit easier. Hmm wonder where my little tent went.

Racing will start at 9.00 each day. Prior to that there will be a driver briefing at the camp. More information will be in the competitors package due for release in about a week.

Camping is certainly mentioned but not caravanning (didn't even cross my mind). There may be those options available at local towns.

Commuting may well be a viable option for you.

Just a couple of points Where are all the challenge competitors ,Its pretty pi## poor when guys go out of there way to organize a comp with months of notice and the best we can do is 4 trucks? ,once again its the same as Northland ,if it wasn:t for the Club Class it wouldn:t happen .
Not wanting to start a sh#t fight but im sure at the last 2 comps Gene said that was his last Cub Class comp and he was going to challenge ? ...Steve

What we discussed was that unless there were 5 trucks in a class then points wouldn't be awarded? However it must also be taken into account that at Rotorua, most didn't enter as they didn't have a 6 point cage. For this event there is no reason for them not to enter.

It isn't my decision alone but I can't see any reason why Challenge class points can't be awarded. ie The event is sanctioned, there are no specific rules that restrict entry and about half of the available trucks have already entered.

It would just mean that those that don't go miss out big! (Which is kinda fair)

Also there is no way we would want to do anything that would undermine the work the Manukau club is doing.

the guys that have made the effort to enter the manukau challenge should be awarded points in the series. Its not their fault that guys are rebuilding or havnt got their trucks finished yet to make up the numbers if points wernt to be allocated.

It has been discussed by the committee and everyone had the same opinion and agree Manukau should be sanctioned.
So points are up for grabs for those that race! It will mean that those race at Manukau will end up in the top 5 almost gauranteed.

And yet again the club class is proving to be the back bone of the sport!

Back to the camping thing.

Got my compeditors pack yesterday and it mentions bringing drinking water.

Is there any wash down facilities on site? and also showers?

I take it if there is not there no issue with drawing a bit of water out of the stream spoken off to put through the our califont and water blaster.

It is a farmers paddock - no wash down - no showers

I assume drawing water from the stream is ok - Dave will confirm - just don't wash mud back into the stream.
