Hi James
I believe you because you have a modified Suz yourself and you know how they go.

What you need is a modified Hilux and then you will be able to keep up to Scotty.

Don't take me too serious James, couldn't help my self

I took a group up Cooze hill at easter and only 2 of us made it up. I was on my 35 simex and dragged the diffs all the way from the corner half way up the hill to the next corner so will be interested to see if anyone drives it in the challenge.

Out of the 3 Nissan Safari's with us not one made it . One stuffed a winch and another broke a cable and the other couldn't get traction from the creek at the bottom of the hill.

Cheers Richard

Does anyone know or can point me in the direction of what rules this event will comply with? I know the tyre size rule, but what about helmets? I assume that fire extingusher and first aid kit will be compulsory as they are for club trips. What about definitions of a live rope/wire when it comes to recovery. Want to nail these rules down for other team members benefit. Not to long to go know. :D

I would have thought that all the entrants and marshalls would have been told when they are needed for scruiteneering and the likes ?

We are heading down in the morning , but I have been passing (truck driver) marshalls heading down all afternoon today.

As far as I know , scruiteneering is at 5 ...... and a couple of 'quiets' are at 5:15

This might be interesting today. Just had a look at the Grey River flow and as I write is 2000mm at Waipuna. Crossing at 2100 is the upper limit.

It is falling though

Awesome weekend. Thanks to the Guys that ran it and especially the Marshalls. At least some of us competitors had warm vehicles to get into every now and again, those Marshalls had nothing. It poured it's heart out at times on saturday, they got snow ontop of Garvies mine course, blokes reckon the mud was so cold. Sunday turned out to be an awesome day for sunshine.
Broke a hub on Saw pit rd/wankel hill, and crushed a passengers door in on the "kiss me rock" in the deadman's course in the mine. Lot's of winching, but then that's what it's about.
If you ever get a chance to ever do one of these, do it. It is really worth the buzz.

Didn't have time to get many pics. Too cold and too much water in truck after this river crossing, but at least the seats in my old P40 MQ were dry after this crossing (yes we made it) unlike Trev and Grant who had to sit on wet seats for the rest of the weekend, and probably icy ones after the frost on Sat night.

Here's some of Trev Jamie's FJ40 which came to a stop in the middle of the Inangahua - suspected leak in his air intake somewhere. The water was cold and fast.

Yes, thanks Sav and all the others involved in organising this, the marshalls and of course the landowners for the bits on private land.
It was my 1st time at Reefton and I'm sure we will be back. Next time with more alternator parts!

Saturdays weather was atrotious but Sundays was perfect, with a nice layer of snow on the higher stages. The 1st stage on day two the 4Y ran a bearing or something by the sounds of it, but it still drove on the trailer at the end of the day. Even the marshalls believed it was a Diesel rather than the petrol due to the combination of smoke and rattle!

Got home 1:30 this morning, was quite the drive.
