Tyre Removal tools

Post by Henry »

Hi

I removed a tyre valve with the help of some rocks on the weekend on the coast.
I had spare valve with me but struggled to find anyone open that would change it for me....

Does anyone know where I can get the tools to remove and refit a tyre in the bush?

thanks

A High Lift Jack is you friend for breaking the bead.

A spade is handy for leavering the tyre down far enough so you can sneak your hand in and push the new valve through enough to get hold of it from the outside.

You could always buy a set of tyre leavers instead of the spade.

Thats how I do it in the bush anyways.

Anything to do with tyres in the bush is a drama

Why don't you just carry a tube and with a hi lift easy to fit

have to agree, a hilift jack is a very versatile tool, try a tyre first at home just to practise rather than doing it for the first time in the bush

Take the tyre off, let the air out (if any still in), lay trye down, drive another truck over the edge of the tyre to pop the bead. Put a little grease around the valve stem and pull through with a set of pliers. Use a cargo starp to push bead around rim to seal and air up. I carry a dive cylinder just for this reason.
