Look on the plate under the bonnet, it tells you the diff ratio under trans axle.

The plate says V5MT 1 5285. So what does that mean?

v5mt1 is the box code, 5.285 is the diff ratio.

i have a swb pajero with 33s itz a pain in d ass having to stop on a hill and start again i usually have to go down 2 low range 2 get going again but if i keep moving with the turbo spooled its fine. it has 4636 diffs in it. i also have a lwb v46 pajero with 4m40 engine and auto trans with 4900 diffs would i achieve anything by putting the 4900 diffs in my swb pajero. cheers.
