Too late now but Im just curious, so please forgive my lack of knowledge on these matters, but this seemed like bargain of the century. Tidy 98 patrol for 6600 bucks? Is it really that hard to get it certed in nz? Dont you just have to get an engineer to sign it off then get it rego'd?. This has got to be worth it for parts alone wouldnt it? Seems strange that I can build some one off clap trap special, get some recently qualified uni student to give it the ok, pay my rego and it's road legal but an established model from nissan in good condition is deemed unfit for kiwi roads..
Something aint right.
Patrol bargain?
Re: Patrol bargain?
Doesnt matter whether it came from Auz or Japan,it doesnt comply with NZs frontal impact laws and Emmisions so it could never be regod, woulda been a good buy to swap tags with a riteoff tho!! Prity crap when you can bring in some sak off sh"* amircan car from the late 90s, convert it and rego it.
Re: Patrol bargain?
yeah, prolly good for a farm vehicle, parts, tough truck, or doin the dodge on a damaged one
Not that thats in any way legal :S

To Boon or not to Boon.
Re: Patrol bargain?
Quite suprised it went for that price, if it were at Turners, I'd say it would have gone for a lot more with wreckers bidding on it

Id rather have a crash in an uncertified 98 patrol than be the poor dum*uck who crashed a jumbuck .

How can they let death traps like this on the road and deny a patrol because of red tape?
Re: Patrol bargain?
Prity sure the Frontal Impact law is just an excuse to stop imports, too many people making money off bringing in damaged imports and selling them and gov missing out on Taxs, usual political crap id say..just my opinion though.
