17th-18th Oct

The POS is Dead ...Long Live the POS ....

I Give you.....

THE MISTRESS

cause as my wife put it ... it works with me because i will spend more time with it than her ... and it works for her too

Heaths old Zook, now residing up in the Winterless north, well on call this weekend and stuck hanging around home meant we could hook into the old girl and get a few things done first thing was because i will be A framing it around for a little while untill we can afford a trailer I decided to build a 3-in-1 cradle for the front .. a winch mount, A frame mount and Tow hooks,
Image

what I ended up with was this, the lugs (still to be cut back to the right length once I finish modifying the A Frame )
The holes for the A frame will double as recovery points with the addition of 3.5T rated Bow shakels fitted on the day (We made them with 25mm plate steel so I don't think they will bend too much!.

Image

got a coby welded on her and a short length of pipe finishing just short of the diff just to quieten it down a little .. will sort the rear end at a later date.

Image

got the rear end strengthened with a length of thick walled steam pipe with a central bracket of 100x100x8mm gusseted angle plate to bolt a recovery hook on the rear.

sorted the "stuck in 4wd Hi" issue ... Heath, you will be pleased to know it wasnt a major ... in fact it turned out to be a 5 minute fix ... the thing was jammed in hi from lack of use and after a good strop around the paddock to jarr everything loose we then discovered the linkages where badly worn .. swapped the top plate and lever off the other box and away we go in 4wd Lo :) .. no need to swap boxes.

well im buggered .... of for a cuppa tea and a sleepies (and hope that dam pager dosnt go off

SUNDAY...

Image

Image

Bloody pager goes off so the mornings history sorting out a fire alarm activation, managed to throw a little bling paint around yesterdays efforts and mount the rear snatch hook, not real happy with the bolts as they are a little long ...and stick down a bit too much

Finished off the brakes and now the truck stops and rear fiddles appear to be working a lot better.

Made sure everything is up and tight and nearly all ready for next weekend.

Fired up the truck to now find it is running like a dog at low revs. Guess back on the dyno this week before Saturday.
