60 surf body lift

Post by J_Dub »

been wanting to lift my surf for a while now, contimplating different areas from spring to body lift, and am thinking untill i wana folk out for coon swap or coil conversion, might just stick with what springs i got now, and just toss aroung with shocks and different shackles and look at interchanging spring packs, because my current 24 year old springs actually dont flex too bad, the older the softer i suppose.. so im thinking body lift, so that i get rid of hitting my inner guards when flexing. Whats your opinion on body lifts? pros and cons? and long term damaging effects etc???? im thinking 50mm max... p.s its leaf sprung all roung

Had a friend in the states do it on there version of the terrano and they were off road and dropped a tyre off a rock and land hard next thing one of the lift mounts came through the body floor and almost took her foot off!! :o :? intern im staying away from body lifts and just going to use extended shackels!!!

Body lift blocks coming through the floor would indicate a structural issue I think, or loose bolts allowing the block to move and beat its way through the floor.
The 50mm body lift blocks I have, have been in two Surfs now and they haven't caused any issues at all.

The gains out way the negative, even allowed me to lift the fuel tank 50mm too which was a bonus. as well as normal clearance gains

yip im with smurf on this one, theres no way a properly installed bodylift would do that, theres 100s of guys running body lifts and i dont kno any who have issues,im running 3.5inch in my surf and no ill effects and ive had the truck off all wheels 3foot in the air and trust me it came down bloody hard with no damage

Needs cert regardless, I'd go at least 50 if you are going to do it.
You will need to space your steering column at the steering box though

go 50mm u should have enough spline at each end of shaft to safely steel a bit of length from each end without any issues.

yea i found that when i did a 75mm lift i needed more length but with a 50mm was still enough spline at each end
