Ikamatua Hotel on the West coast

Post by Bulletproof »

Had a ring yesterday form Shane Gregg. He is the new owner of the Hotel, Cabins and camp sites at Ikamatua on the West Coast.

He said he is trying to encourage 4 wheel drive clubs to stay there and is going to give sharp deals and services like cooked breakfasts if that is what you want.

Top 4 wheeling from there. We used to call it the centre of the universe.
Chasm track ,Waipuna Caves ,Napoleons hill etc just minutes away.

Cheers Richard

You with Nth Canty Worzel? Thank god it has changed hands as my opinion of it before was pretty low. Improving the food option would be a good start.

We stayed there 2 Xmas' ago, Rung and booked campsites for 10 or so people for a few nights and got prices etc. Got there and they wanted to charge us twice what we were quoted on the phone. They relented in the end but wouldn't let us stay an extra two nights. Went and stayed at DOC camping ground south of Reefton.
We will go back there if the new owner is more reasonable, its a good spot.

Just don't stay in rooms one or two unless you plan to get plastered and pass out...
