13b bj40

Post by garic »

Ok im two weeks away from ripping into my bj40 project, power steering from a 60 series, wider axles with disc brake from 60 all sitting in my garage ready to be put in.

Im also considering a 13b engine swap aswell, my question is if I got the 13b with 5 speed gearbox (I know it doesnt line up with my cross member and floor hole as its 2 inch longer or something) will this gearbox bolt straight onto my existing transfer case. I have two, one thats in the truck right now from the 4 speed 1981 and one from a donor truck I have thats 1982 bj60.

Also I will need to fab up new engine mounts? 1b in there at moment. I was thinking about shifting the engine forward 2 inches as I heard that then it will line the gearbox up and also it gives more room for a turbo (I have a turbo on the b engine which could go onto the 13b)

Thanks for your help in advance

Nah not all 24v. Think you can mix and match a few bits from 3b's anyway.

You have to file/cut a bit off the bottom of the starter to make it fit I think.

Cheers for your help doesnt sound too much of a mission then. One last thing, the toyota dyna came out with landcruiser engines, did they come out with the same gearboxes aswell h55f's ? or are they completely different gearboxes?

Isn't the fuel shut off solenoid 24 volt as well?

Cool, just bought the engine, its out of a dyna. Apparently it is 12 volts so no worries there. Should I forget about wanting to use the 5 speed from it since its prob a dyna box/ might not mount up to my exisiting transfer case/ lengths and everything where the 13b should go straight in (sorta) and I could just bolt my h44 gearbox on and pronto. which bell housing would I use?

Picking the engine/gearbox combo up in three weeks
