Oil Pressure Sender

Post by Disco-Blue »

I have just bought myself a Autometer oil pressure gauge and sender from Ripco. However I can't get the bloody sender in, the thread on the new sender is 1/8 and matching them up it looks as though they are the same thread the original sender is just tappered.

Any ideas on how to get the new one in and if it is the right type thread??

Cheers Guys!

just been through this myself.

Toyota block thread is 1/8 BSPT. (T = Taper)
Sender thread is 1/8 NPT

I got a T junction with a 1/8 BSPT male and female pass through , and a 1/8 NPT tap off on the side

means you can run the factory low oil pressure switch and the aftermarket pressure sensor.

brought the adapter from a specialist gauge shop in ChCh (Parrots) while i was down a few weeks ago. Cost $15. Guy also said that is was no drama to re-tap the 1/8 NPT sender to a 1/8 BSPT thread.

It helps when you have it all written down in front of you. 8)
you wouldn't believe how long it took me find that info after my after market gauge wouldn't fit.

Pretty sure most Toyota diff , gearbox breathers etc use the 1/8 BSPT thread as well.
