Also what is a hotbox? I know all about glow plugs but 13b dont have these correct?

13bt doesn,t have glow plugs in stead it has an inline heater in the intake which preheats the diesel to get it going ,normally controlled by a timer so it is only on for 2-3 mins (give or take a few) means you just turn the key and crank, you dont need to wait for glow plugs to warm up .suck HUGE amounts of power when on (need good batteries) generally tend to be more reliable(in my opinion).hope this helps

yes pistons and rods are very different between the 2 im not sure about the crank but i would say they are different,alternatoers are the same and starter motors,some 3b's have a rotary injector pump and my 2 13bts have inline pumps
the 13bt and 12ht are brothers they have the heating element no glow plugs,no timing belt or chain they are gear driven nuggets,my 13bt has had an absolute flogging,its been hydrauliced and had the crank twisted it run upsidedown and seized it has no heating element and it is still going strong,its had new bigend bearings and the crank machined,new water pump and radiator im using another gearbox and have a exedy heavy duty clutch but the motor has had minimal work
