surf owners help - Toyta surf 3ye conversion options

Post by tanga »

can anyone offer any advice from expierience?

got a manual surf running a 3ye and i suspect its got buggered rings (pisses blue smoke under acceleration), i'm looking at either re-powering with another low cost low power motor similar to what it had or maybe goin a bit for something bigger depending on what is the cheapest option for me

what sort of engine(s) would be easy to mount / replace with keeping in mind i'm trying to keep costs down

any help would be much appreciated

either find another 3y or 3ye or go 3rz. if you bought a carbed 3y it is easy enough to make it 3ye by just moving the injected stuff to the new motor. I changed my 3y to ingected by just buying the parts and the 3y's are cheap but not power houses. other option which is a direct bolt in is the 3rz just you have to rerun the exhaust as it is on the oposit side and wire it in. only thing is the engine is 1500 to 2500 to buy. or you could try and find a 22r or 22re but good luck there, those also bolt straight in with no issues.
