New guy wondering what suits
New guy wondering what suits
Hey guys, looking at getting a SWB (probably a safari or landcruiser) for hunting, and would also have to be my general car.
Im pretty new to the 4wd game. My olds have a diesel safari lwb so no what safaris drive like and have something to compare to.
Just wondering about petrol vs diesel. As in performance and economy. Obviously diesel is cheaper to put in the tank, but by the time you got the RUC's and servicing paid for, how do they shape up?
Im not going to race out and buy something at the drop of the hat but just wanted to find out what to look for and prices etc.
There is a 4.2L petrol patrol on trademe atm. Just wondering how these would g0 and how thirsty. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =248275909
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers, Glen.

If its going to be your general transport you might as well find a truck with a 350 in it if your concidering petrol, I've had plenty of 2F and 3F petrol cruisers and they drink gas like a V8, pretty sure you'll find the 4.2 petrol Saf's are the same if not thirstier

This will be interesting to hear others opinions.
I'm with Sadam.
Though he's owed more cruisers than me by far.

But I did have the 4.2 petrol 2F in my Toyota before putting the injected 350 in. The 2F drank the petrol like no other motor I've owned man.

I think if I was going to get into the 4X4 with a tight budget I'd go for a rig like H2OLOVERS. 70 series diesel powered SWB Cruiser. That's all you need to get a good balance of an on road off road machine.
But I'm Toyota all the way.

Okay cheers for that pete. There is a whole lot of numbers and letters in there i dont understand yet haha. BU t very helpful none the less. That is what im after, a good on road off road vechile with good performance on both.....without destroying my wallet at the gas stations (if thats possible
)

Any petrol 4wd is going to be heavy on fuel, I've owned a few. They have all the extra weight in the front end to lug around. Look at diesels. Safari's and cruisers and pretty industructible, well saf's anyway
If you get into it, you will push the truck to the limit and break heaps of shit anyway. So in the end petrol or diesel willl be the least of your costs in the long run

nah. Bollocks.
The LS1 is near on half the weight of the 2F boat anchor.
Oh and puts out over twice the horses.
You do the math.

Don't be a lazy ass hunter.

Google the 2F Toyota and see what gives.
