SupraLux wrote:Just watched that video, and I have a few thoughts... it shows up several things all 4WDers should know.
1. Failed climb descent tecniques... know them, and practice so you do them automatically when you need them.
2. Know your trucks limitations and don't push the boundaries unless you are prepared for the consequences
3. Wear a seatbelt when attacking things (other than the usual 'no seatbelt' times, like deep river crossings etc) - I was horrified to watch this after the fact and realise I wasn't wearing it... I almost always do.
4. Don't involve other people in your silly "I can do that" ideas... I think my dog would rather have watched and laughed from the top with everyone else...
5. Fit a rollcage if you intend to do steep hillwork.
Note: I will not be doing this again until both my rollcage is completed (mandrel pipe bender on route from USA - will probably make a full exo), at least my front Lokka is installed, and I have resolved the front driveshaft "falling out" issue. I'm taking the fact I still have a truck as a sign that I have been warned from above
I hope others learn from this too... Once you get over the shock of what almost happened you will probably laugh yourself stupid at me... go ahead, be my guest I laughed myself stupid then started to analyse what went wrong... which I figure everyone can learn from.
Steve (Still doing stupid stuff when around Rik) :pale:
