New to the site

Post by Nivapulledout »

Hi all,
have been visiting this site recently and found it very cool, So have decided to make the most of it and join up.
I have a Snot green Lada Niva with 30" MT and a winch mounted. Soon to have a 2" lift and ATB LSD's fitted front and back.
Pretty hardy little beast and has never given me trouble (apart from all the smart ass comments) Have been offroad in it a fair bit and have done thompsons track a few times. Never to the shame of some and amazment of others have I needed a tow out apart from when I bellied on a tree stump. check out my last time up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zXmGZWav6Po

I am overseas most of the time as I am Engineering on superyachts but make it a point to get the little beast out everytime I go home.

I am reasonably new to the NZ 4x4 game in terms of knowledge but driving and recovery wise I was a commander of a 20ton Recovery truck with 2-3 crew for 4 of my 8 years in the Army, Just got to get used to these piddly (especially mine) winches and gear.

Nice to meet everyone and hope you dont give me to much grief he he.

thanks

Craig

Haha go the LADA!

Don't worry - I've seen Ladas in action before and they do very well! Don't worry about the big Safaris it's just an ego thing!

I'd never pay for a Lada but I would damn near be given one for free!!!

cheers mate,
you can almost get them for free now, that is what I like !!I have got a full parts wagon just sitting there(not that parts are expensive) ready for any part that i need off it, and I know of plenty more around.

I also getting a kick out of having a stigma about the lada, it hurts them even more when you are at the top and they are pulling out spades, he he

cheers am enjoying this forum already.

Welcome aboard Craig!

Loved the video clip. I bet if ever you're first through a track and nail it like you did in that clip, you would get other 4X4 owners worried that they might not get as far.
Good on ya, great stuff. :D

What part of the country are you in?

Pete.

Hay guys,
cheers for the comments, that day there was a land drover bogged (drove past it at the bottom that is why was changing lanes halfway though) and was one of the three trucks that made it up unaided, the other 10 all bogged .
When I am back in NZ I am normally in Te Awamutu however at the moment I am freezing my balls of in Monaco. should be a good skii season over here at the moment.
Will be back in NZ in feb and march hoping to go camping exploring around the corromandel (cant spell for shit) I think there are a couple of track around there (the keys or something) so if anyone familiar with that part let me know. Or if anyone keen to plan to meet up to do a track.
