What a COOOOOL weekend!
I just thought Id give a big thanks to Klem for organising and running an awesome smooth event! Cheers to Justin and Tracey and all the lads and lasses who put in their time and effort to make the Taupo Winch Challenge the success it was!
Congratulations to the "Astronauts" Jason Delahunty and Grant McFarlane for their "Challenge Class" Taupo Winch Challenge win and to Raana Horan and Mike Connor for their overall "North Island Series" win for 2009!
Also congratulations to Gene Batty and Justin Williams and Dallas The Bro (sorry bro, I cant be remembering your last) for their "Club Class" Taupo Winch Challenge win and to Bernie Konz and Ants Tanyge for their overall "North Island Series" win for 2009!
I suppose if I want another blat in the 40 next year I should also thank Ben for his faith in me that my little legs and chubby guts can run, walk and waddle, and for getting used to my constant yelling ..... especially when I yell STOP! Haha.
Again, an awesome weekend. Thanks to all the cool cats we met and caught up with there. Have an awesome festive season!
Cam
PS. I have loaded quite a few videos on YouTube from the Rotorua, Manukau and Taupo Winch Challenges, and have enabled them to be embedded. Check them out at http://www.YouTube.com/TeamCamz

Re: Taupo Winch Challenge 2009
Will try and get the results up soon. We used two different computers and score sheets. And i am a bit stuffed at moment still trying to catch up at work.
Thanks to all that helped and Dan and Clint with out these two it would it would not of happend. Thanks to the competitors that put there time in to come down to taupo and make the comp what it is.
Thanks to every one involved you will know who you are.
I wanted to try some different things and i feel we pulled it off
Most thought the tracks would be fast and set for v8 but not the case as you found out. Where there was fast parts we also put in some tight bits i aslo put in some things you needed to think about.
We all most lost the land for saturday and did not get the go ahead till 4pm on thursday night. as a back up we put in 6 more tracks on some real hard out land just down the road as a back up.
I was glade we did not need it we would of killed some winches there
Cheers again Klembo.

What a great weekend! Thanks to all those who made the effort to turn up & compete or to help out
It is good to hear that the stages were enjoyed, we had fun setting them & I am looking forward to laying out some fresh stages for next year already. Please post up any other feedback you may have on the tracks, it's always good to have different ideas & opinions.
Since the South Island boys put in the effort & got up here for our event it would be rude not to head to Blenheim for next year's national comp, so all going well Klem & I & #55 will be sailing over for Queens Birthday weekend & some action on the Mainland. Hopefully we can get a posse of a few North Is trucks down there.
Cheers
Clint

Close but not quiet right. John and I won club class followed very closely by Gene and Dallas with the Brasseys third. Only 33 points between the top three.
Gene took out the series with Bernie and Antz second. (I think)
Any way great weekend and a real credit to Klem and his team. Hope they do it again next year.

Another awsome event....Big thanks to everyone......hope to see you all next time

Drive as fast as you can, NOT as fast as you can not.
Re: Taupo Winch Challenge 2009
I'm on the planning team for the "National" Winch Challenge in Blenheim over Queens Birthday weekend next year. Any feedback from the organisers of the Taupo event would be appreciated. We've run a couple of events already, so we're pretty confident of our ability to set some pretty good courses, but specifically looking for advice regarding sponsors contacts (if any), and how much hassle (and cost) you had with the 4WD TV crew. The indication we have at present is that they will come if we stump up for airfares and accommodation. It's probably do-able, but is it worth the effort? We have a couple of cash sponsors on board already, but not sure whether to put the cash into the TV crew, or split it between prizes and some (mostly liquid) goodies for the marshals...
