Boys Day Out 2010

Post by Boysdayout »

Hey everyone!

So Boys day out is gona be a hell of an event held at Mystery creek march 13-14 2010

What we are planning at this stage related to you guys

We will have a 4x4 track cut out with the aid of some heavy diggers etc and it should be pretty Gnarly and close to the spectators we'd like an articulation ramp so people can see just how extreme these machines are!

What im looking for from you guys is some awesome trucks to drive around the challenging track so show off just how good you are

some competition trucks parked up and or driving the track so people can understand how far you can take this sport and who knows you might even find a new sponser! - or recruit some new talent to the sport!

Exhibitors!

If you have a cool product or service thats related to this area / event then by all means get in touch outside areas from as little as $250 for the whole weekend!!! be seen with the action!!

And if we can get enough interest we will carve out some mud drag lanes cause lets face it , its damn cool!!

To get in touch either reply to this thread or get me on the email

Unfortunaly your event is the same weekend as round 5 of the national trials in hawkes bay so as for competition trials trucks you may struggle to get numbers there other than those who are missing that round.
I'm sure winch challenge trucks will still be more than keen

Cheers

Malfunction... the NZFWDA are not going to directly get involved with this event as those of us who seem to finish up with co-ordinating things, are already committed to other projects. It's a fairly busy time for 4x4 activity.

Clubs etc are of course free to make their own decisions.

Hey guys sorry for leaving u hanging there, was in hospital for a little while there, all good now :)

So where im at with this right now is basicly im getting some good feed back however there isnt really anyone putting their hand up to say hey im gona make sure i get my club there..

its not really worth making a track unless we can get atleast 10 trucks or so there..

i was toying with the idea that we make it so punters can try in thier trucks.. but then that adds the issue of getting thier trucks down to the area and all that jazz..

So let me see what i can manage over the next couple days.. have some calls to make if i can deligate this to someone closer who knows more about it than me that might be good..

Keep smiling we'l make it happen

Theres a bit of an issue with taking people for rides and we wont let you charge them, cause then its a whole differnt kettle of fish..

If you guys wana do free rides im cool with that

There will be space for off track sillyness so you will be able to show off etc.

I'm rather confused.

First you have 30 people e-mailing you wanting to come?

and now you need a whole club to get involved so you can get along atleast 10 trucks?

Hopefully you are not the same bloke thats been organizing the air shows!

As i said earlier there is interest from many individuals, however that leaves the organizing up to me which i dont really have the time to do as there is so much else to organize ....

As far as clubs go the clubs that have got in touch so far have only managed a handfull of trucks..

My hope is that A or A few clubs will sort out attendance etc.

Whats to organize? I think this is what malfunction was on about. Basically- Give people a time and date to be there- and if they can they will. Its easy and your time outlay is very minimal.

Yeah that would be great, but i dont want to go to the expense of time and effort and area at the event if no one shows up..

would be a big waste of time and i could put somthing else there. its as much for the 4x4 people to show off thier hobby as it is for anyone there to see it.

Well people don't like maybe's. You need to say that it WILL be on XX day at XX time at XX place and anyone who wants to come can come. I know that news would spread very fast and that you could potentially have more trucks there than you want.

IMO there is no need to have a competition or race or anything like that. Make a track that has a big long slippery muddy hole to roar through (as well as space to get around it if it gets too messed up) as well as a few achievable hills to drive up (after a few tucks go through it'll get muddy and fun) and make sure, again, there is a way to get through if you cant do it. Also have an area full of randomly placed and close together clay mounds which people can drive through to get the suspension working and flexing from left to right. I'm unsure if you have been to woodhill 4x4 park but they have a good example of this there.

Bring the fire service along and get them to pump lots of water out onto the grass and into the holes during the day

It has already been posted

Boys Day Out!

March 13-14

Mysterycreek events center..

I dont wish to leave it to the day to see what happens, if 5 people show up its not worth it , if 100 people show up it'l be a nightmare hence trying to organise it before hand...

Gee lads, can't you get it?
He is looking for a club or organisation to oversea a four wheel drive demo area at BDO. He has the whole event to oversee and needs someone to take up co-ordinating the 4x4 demos. That club or organisation puts the demos into action including making sure all OSH requirements are met.

Unless you are prepared to take on the responsibility to co-ordinate the demos and vehicles then leave the guy alone.

I was in the process of having my truck shipped up there.

Sorry Mal i dont know who ralfie is..

But he kinda made a good point.. the whole idea of it was to put in the hands of the clubs local to the event so they can sort it out and i can just say, heres some space heres a digger make something cool, as i have over 300 other exhibitors and demonstrators to deal with between now and then..

So that's why i wasn't too keen on having the individuals doing it if i leave it in the hands of the club its good exposure and a hell of a fun weekend for whoever puts their hand up..

So yeah.. im gona go the clubs line and if that dont work out then everyone will miss out

All good mate, but to be honest I think ya best bet would be to get individuals from here give em a digger like ya say and let em go. But get 20 people interested first so you can be sure atleast 10 will turn up. Ya see im quite keen, but will need to have truck transported up etc so will take a bit of planning. Anyway, please keep me posted with whats happening because even if i dont bring my truck ill be coming up to the event
