Tubes or Tube less?

Post by LIFTED »

Just picked up my new Hankook RT 03 35/12.5/15'MT tyres.Waiting for the 10''x 15'' rims to be supplied and wondering does anyone fit tubes these days or isit a waste of time? Have been told if the rims spin the valve will be ripped off the tube! The rims are not bead lockers.

Go tubes mate, with a 35" tyre you'll have to go to heavy duty tubes and you might as well redrill the valve hole in the rim and stick tractor tubes with lock rings on the valve stem into them

With tubeless its easy to pop the bead, lose the air and throw the tyre off when your running lower pressures, most of the guys down here that went tubeless have all gone back to tubes

most serious dudes fit tubes, some use MSall (a flexible urethane/plumbing sealant) to bond tyre to rim, or rough up the inside of your rims, so they aint shiney so it aint so slippery, i purposely got overspray on the inside a my rims when i painted them black so it left a non shiney/slippery surface, im running tubes n had no probs

some clubs have that you have to have tubes as a rule, my club does for some reason. i pulled my tubes because i was ripping off the valve stems, tried to go down the tractor tube way but everyone i asked about here locally gave me a funny look.

i have reasonably new tires and use to run them at about 10psi with the tubes but took them out and run about 16psi until they start wearing a bit more then air them down accordingly to attain similar amount of traction. thats the plan anyway.

Got sick to death of tubes, alwatys getting punctured by the dirt that gets in the bead when aired down or ripping valve stems off. I put my 35 silverstones on to 7" rims. I rouighed up the edge where the bead sits and had the fitters use bead glue. Also ensured they do not use any silicone spray to assist in getting the tyre on. have not popped a bead since doing this and have given the tubes up.

That's my point, his choices are:
1. tubes and put up with the hassle of them.
2. Go smaller rims
3. bead locks
