Cheap is just that, you get what you pay for. Might be worth researching what sort of shocks would suit your truck and your budget and then look for pricing

the welding on the eyes is poor and they snap off
inconsistant induction hardening on the spears making them brittle at points

what has happened to dent the current two? no point going out and buying the best shocks on the market if something is hitting them when the truck flexs up or something.

Do you actually need to be able to adjust the shock dampening rates or is that just a bit of bling factor with the in cab controls?

Tough Dog make shocks that work with the rancho in cab kit. Used to have that set up in my old 40. Didn't have it long enough to test them hard out off road  ... maybe the guys on here have an opinion on them...

Forget about the in cab adjusts as it is just bling. Get a set of well matched shocks and springs and you don't need adjustable shocks. The adjustablility is only needed to match to the springs so once set, basically forget.
Lets put it this way, if there was need for on the fly adjustable shocks then those of us that are spending serious money on suspension would ALL have adjustable shocks. My new ones are infinitely adjustable but they need to be pulled apart to do it. The difference is they are a long travel coil over with remote canister so one costs the same as all four Rancho's but after a few years they will be cheaper as they will still be going strong just by fitting a set of shims (valving).
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.

How does one tell the numbers on the side of a Rancho shock?.
I have these numbers, 9223 and c145u2r.

9223 should be the model number, these appear to be RS 9000, used on the front of 91-00 Pajero's
