Alright. So I've ended up with a 12,000lb (i think...maybe 15,000lb) hydraulic winch. Plan is to get a PTO output section and shaft with engagement lever so I can send drive backwards to a dedicated pump. hopefully I can then get some decent speed out of the thing.

Also- I've told shitloads of people so i may as well be out with it.
Yes, I'm fitting a hilux ute cab to my safari. The one Vvega had for sale. Hope to have it fitted over the next two months if everything goes to plan
This has COMPLETELY changed the projects attitude and direction.
The lux cab gives me SO much more.
Pro's
-FAR less weight (ever compared a GQ bonnet to a lux bonnet?)
-Greater availability of really sweet parts (seen the front guards on jafa's truck

)
-They are far better looking than the GQ ever could be (i originally wanted a hilux)
-The hiluxes bad parts are erased in one foul swoop. I'm able to do away with the hilux's baby engine, flimsy chassis (lol, im just being cheeky), weak box, diffs AND I lose the leaf springs from the chassis.
-The safari's bad parts are also erased instantly. NO MORE RUST. NO MORE whale jokes.
-I am going to put a NISSAN badge on the front of the lux grille (must get me a nice shinny one) just to confuse everyone.
-Its got no rust in this body. My GQ was full of it. Water leaked inside. It was a mess.
-Because i can get guards like Jafa's im open to other options that really were not possible before- I no longer need to lift the truck 4" like i did before. There is also going to be more space for the inside of my tyre to cram itself up inside the front guard before it rubs.
-I dont have to change my GQ's fucked door hinges.
So... As well as everything else thats being done.. this is a brief list of what i'd like to happen in the relatively near future.
-Glue on the hilux cab. Throw out the Nissan cab.
-Install manual box and change rear mainseal while the body is off.
-Fit the GQ trans tunnel into the hilux cab. then I'll have to find some seats small enough to fit in the remaining gaps on each side
-Relocate the radiator to the rear
-Fit some FG front guards (like jafa's- as i keep saying) from steve at 4wd fibreglass in hamilton.
-modify my drop boxes so that they do not push the axle so far forwards. will go just +15mm rather than +50mm as the boxes are designed. This removes the need to extensively modify/move the spring perches/shock towers and panhard rod mount.
Sort out rear arms once and for all- 5link or 4link etc.
-Move all strut/spring perches upwards so that the trucks only recieved a 2"ish spring lift just with more up movement.
-Purchase a superflex arm from superior engineering.
-fold up an aluminum or plastic dash board.
