Getting pissed off with settting up the powersteering reservoir on my hilux. Because my radiator is for manual steer have had a pipe made up to go behind the steering pump. but this is now stopping me tensioning the powersteering belt as the hose that goes to the reservoir interferes. Done for the day will look at getting some more powersteering hose tomorrow.

Yea, thought Cam must've been getting a bit to old for winch challenges. :P

As for me, went for a play up Pete Flemmings farm last night and lost my corner bar so went up this arvo to get it.

Replaced a-arm(thx Bolo), flipped BJ's and twisted torsion bars up a bit just enough to keep it with just a slight nose down stance. Pulled running boards, looks like a 4X4 not a family cruzer.

Will be putting SWB Safari springs in rear(thx Malfunction) over Christmas and then twisting front up to level.

Testing at Ocean Beach on Sun :D :D :D

Got Set to drive the hilux to the end of the drive and back. But now have clutch woes. Can only engage forward gears when motor is running, it will not go into reverse. The clutch engageswith the slightest movement of the pedal from the floor, have bled the clutch system twice. We think it needs a larger thrust bearing. There was a few to choose from for the L series motors when I bought the clutch kit. Which sucks because I don't want to have to drop the gearbox again.

There should be some adjustment somewhere, the pushrod or the ball the clutch fork pivits on should both be able to be wound out a bit with the gearbox still in place

Cheers Marty. but have just had a look, there is no adjustment in the pushrod and if I unwind the pivot point in the bellhousing (looking at my old one) I'm fairly certain it'll rattle loose as there is nothing to tighten it on to.

Try making a longer pushrod by 5-10mm. Use a long 6mm bolt cut to length and round ends on grinder.

Attended the Annual Whangarei A&P Summer show with the Whangarei 4wd club this weekend, first time at this advent, had a ball and a really good event to iron out any kinks/issues with the Mistress, only had one small issue and that is the electric fan isnt pulling enough airflow through the radiator, and in the hot hot conditions she was running a little hotter than i would have liked, not overheating just a few mm up the temp gauge higher than normal.

Image

this event is pretty hard on trucks at the best of times ... two whole days sitting on the rev limiter and pushing the trucks faster and harder than normal to apeeze Joe public's vision of a 4wd.
Image

lots of trucks on Sat .. not so many on sunday .. lots of breakages on Sunday! the Geen Zook had a electrical fault that killed it halfway though the bog :(

Image

Happy to say the Zook made it though the weekend without breaking anything ... important anyway :) The red Zook broke a CV on Sat .. got that sorted then suffered from overheating issues, got that sorted as well then next run around sheared the front diff mounts launching out of the bowl. game over after that one

Image

Hopefully I will regain hearing in my left ear soon *teenage girls can scream loud cant they!!*

I spent the day at car tune working on vvega's new hilux cab. Cab has frontal impact damage and so there were alot of spot welds to drill out.

I also cut the fcuk out of his donor surf with a plasma cutter. First time using one- its the best tool ive ever used im sure. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) Beats the dick out of sabre saws!

Got about 1/2 way up takapari and truck started coughing and farting. Decided better to turn around and head back while all down hill just in case something major went wrong.

Parked truck back in shed and will look at what wrong another day. Hopefully just something wrong with leads or spark plugs.
