lock nuts for prado

Post by Heath »

Okay wandered down to local tyre place for some lock nuts for my prado today.

A couple of guys were commenting on my tyres yesterday and mentioned that they would be easy to pinch because I didnt have them locknutted on. I just laughed it off and said my dog wasnt concerned about that sort of thing and looked after my vehicle.

Got me thinking though if someone wanted one or more of my wheels and tyres I'm Fecked, because to be honest the dog is old and she really doesnt care about my vehicle.

What price and where can I get locknuts for std ally wheels? My tyre place didnt have a clue but said they couldnt get any anyway because they dont fit std locknuts.

post up a close up pic for me dude

I'll tell ya what to do

my thoughts on locknuts, are that they are a visual deterrent, if somebody want your alloys that bad, they will take the whole rig.

I'd be getting locknuts that have a round outside and the holes in the middle like these.

Changed my wheels over on a trip and lost the locknut key. Went to go change them back and realised i'd lost it, got out a smaller socket and whacked it on no problems. Mine were like these

To be honest I think it was too close to knock off time and they couldnt be bothered. I'm going to try somewhere else. I agree they are not going to stop a determined theif but just the oportunist ones (It'll keep the honest theives honest  ).

As above forget about locknuts, they'll have the wheels off quicker than you can with the key
