Heat Resistant Leads

Post by SirGerald »

Hi

On the weekend had problems with truck misfiring.

Found problem is the exhaust heat is cracking the rubber covers on the spark plug leads and then from there shorting everything out.

On one side of the engine there is bugger all room between the end of the spark plugs and the exhaust.

Anyone got any good ideas on what type of covers we can put on the end of the leads that will be a bit more heat resistant??

Do miss the old hilux days, used to be able to hammer it and it would always drive home. Have to admit didn't hammer it as much as the 4wd now, but at least it would have made it up takapari and back :(

Cheers, look like might do the trick. Roughly only a finger width between the end of the spark plug and the exhaust so imagine on a long run things are going to get a bit hot.

Any thoughts on using exhaust heat wrap??

Have heard a few comments that not a good idea on a 4wd due to mud and water etc. Figure would only need to wrap the bit where the lead is almost hitting??
