Was that the last run i did, the timed one? I hope so, i'd like to think sitting on rev limiter has something to do with the smoke rather than just smokin all the time. Might be rebuild sooner rather than later.

meece4x4, It was the only mud hole of the day but it was a goody I hit the left side (as you look at it) a bit slow in the wrong gear and ended up parked 25-30m from either end. Just as well for the 6hp highmount  :D

hey yep was timed section so you were gunning it, as for the mud there is plenty more on the farm but only in drains etc got stuck the day before everyone came up and me m8 tryed to back down and recover me and thats when his auto gave up. so the trusty warn pulled us both to safety. have more photos of the day if you want them posted up.

I know it's past the weekend but hey.
Finally took my truck out of storage today for the first time in about 2 months, finally made the engine work properly, marked up the snorkel, took almost everything off the front diff to do a knuckle rebuild, put my fancy SNR winch cradle on then realised i should probably have more than two bolts holding it on which i'll grab tomorrow. :D :D
Big day tomorrow, finish putting the front back together with all the nice new bits everywhere, wirebrush and paint my chassis, rewire all the relays with new bases, steal a drill off old workmate to do snorkel and install/wire in winch. Then test it all
So annoying to not have any tools back here.

Also a question, does the long steering rod in front off the diff housing have a bend in it from factory or did i somehow manage to do it?

Not a factory bend. I failed last WOF on mine, was bent in a U. The VTNZ guy recommended to just put a jack under it to straighten it. Got that WOF but it now has another bend so probably will replace it with a strengthened one.

yea i pretty much bend mine everytime i go out, thats why at the start of a trip your steering wheel points straight and at the end of it its at about 90 degrees  the press or a jack sorts it out. One of these days i need to do a decent order from jafa and go highsteer and get some stronger components as well.
They joys of a hilux, at least they are easy to fix.

Ended up ordering one from toyota yesterday. Explained exactly the part i wanted to the girl at parts who then confirmed it with another guy there. Courier driver comes today and gives me a tie rod
So went for a drive to toyota and took back the tie rod which was $45. Got told sorry that was there fault and ordered the wrong part. Ends up the steering rod i wanted was $503 retail.
Best part is the guy behind the counter said that they would get me in the ACTUAL steering rod and deliver it themselves to me next tuesday at no extra charge!!!
Toyota are great to deal with
