Tauranga and Palmy tracks.

Post by stanley_changuion »

Hi guys!
Just wondering if there are nice places around tauranga and Palmy where a novice can drive off road a bit. We are going to Tauranga for two weeks, so dont want to join a club up there. Are there places where one can drive on the beach in Tauranga? I drive on Foxton beach now and then, but would like some thing with a bit more challange to it.
Thanks!
Stan

the bad news about driving on the beach in tga is NO unless ya want a fine for doing it....something they do every xmas/new year. in saying that if ya go down the end of papamoa road and whip down onto the beach you can go all the way to kaituna cut about 9ks toss a boat tank in the back and use the excuse mate in a boat run outa gas......im lucky enough i can shoot through the private property there to get to the beach .
otherwise go out to the white sands out pukahina ways

Contact the local4x4 Club(s), maybe they have some 4wd runs you can tag along .... most clubs are usually happy to let visitors along (they may require you to have proper towhooks etc)
