Twin battery setup in a hilux

I've just bought myself an LN107 hilux, and I'm after some info on the battery setup. Its got the factory twin battery setup, does anyone know how they are wired up? Like are they wired in parallel with a relay in between, so that you can run accessories and the like and only one battery goes flat and when you want to start the engine it will still start? And help would be appreciated.

I have a LN107 as well with the twin set up, not sure of the wiring type but have used this set up with 12 volt halagen lights in the tent for a couple of nights on several accasions with no side effects. i was told that in Japan this is known as an outdoor!!! pack to run accessorys (spelling?) from without effecting the starting battery. To date i have had no problems.

Usually just 12V set up wired together + to + , - to - with no relays or anything flash, simple set up think of it as one big battery cut in half, some surfs have the same twin battery set up, all it does it allow more battery storage space for accessories but they'll both go flat together and charge up together.

Its my belief they are referred to as a W
Eg KZN130W....meaning Winter ....supposed to be for the north of japan where they get snow etc & to make them easier to start in the cold

So it should be a simple job then to put a relay in between the two to isolate one battery when the key is off then? I'm looking at running an inverter off one battery while camping.

We had this sort of thing setup in dads boat, but with a simple relay it ate the second battery all the time, we ended up installing the smart relay so the start battery charges then isolates itself and the second battery is then charged.

there was something about the battery not charging correctly when in parallel, this was on a boat tho.

Might pay to check it will start ok on just the one battery ...you may have to buy a bigger starting battery if it wont.

I've got two 700cca batteries to go in, are they heavy duty enough? Or would it be wiser to use only one of them and have a deep cycle battery as my aux battery?

Pretty sweet kit but is pretty expensive.
