Hi
Just wondering what everyones thoughts are as to how often engine oil and filter needs to be changed on a 2005 4wd Hilux.
Has just everyday use probably about 15,000km per year so nothing to major.
I would have thought every 10,000km but have also heard 15,000km fine and in fact it has just finished its service plan through Toyota which was every 15,000km.

If it is the current shape, with the 1KD engine, then cycle is full service every 15k or 1 year and oil change only at the 7.5 or 6 month intervals
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres....

3L and 5L service intervals - oil 5000kms/3mths (oil filter 10 000km)
1hd service intervals - 15 000/12mths (7500km for heavy duty use)

Diesel and Turbo in Wellington handle all those (1-KD)pumps for TNZ. We've had a few get o/hauled (or what ever they do) by them and they did a good job.
We have been advised by TNZ, to change the fuel filters in the Hilux's and Hiace's (with 1-KD engines)every 15 000km due to blockages and fueling problems.
Originally these fuel filters weren't supposed to be changed, unless the light came on the dash.....but most times it never did.
