Good work Chris, it'll come together nicely.
And put up pic's of all the toys, like the Datto and the Rally car!

crossover steering set up that the cert guy is happy with
Nord lock washers holding it all together more expensive than the rest of the bits put together..... $35 for bar and $40 for washers!!! worth it though

now have to "cold work" (hit with hammer) the sump to give steering bar some clearance.

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
Looks good mate
,What motor did you use?SOHC turbo from Mitsy starion or sigma or DOHC from vr4 etc

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
Looks like you might need some huuuge flare extensions to get it certified.

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
hi everyone
used a really tasty 8v sigma motor, 4G63T has a decent factory power figure nothing incredible but i had a complete car there so after discussing putting a factory 1300 in it and realising i would have to change the mounts etc i thought perhaps i should go bigger and put a 4AGE in.... then thought after struggling to find a good carby version thought why not put a proper motor in!!!
had a quick eye up thought it would go (obviously this motor is from a front drive sigma), found a rear drive colt gear box which are nice and small only 4 speed but shouldn't matter, can change later to a bigger box from a lancer (5spd) but will have to shuffle some of my tunnel out of the way and i really hate cutting body work if it can be avoided.
should be interesting all i have to go now is the fuel return line, 1x rear brake hose and all the wiring..... which and i must get a picture up is turning out to be a night mare. just want it all done right the first time so i doesn't crap itself in nowheresville!!
next truck is gonna be a jimny sr20det auto will be a tight squeeze but a newer engine and body = less problems. (and rust haha)
as for flares does anyone know how much a set of the new jeep (rubicon??) factory superwide flares cost... if it is more than $50 i'm out, but you never know!!
will get some more pics up in the next few days cheers guys

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
as for the crossover, it was very easy and incredibly cheap.... however i would recommend buying something suitable from one of this sites friends as although this is going to work and "my" certifier is happy with it yours might not be.
however it is 2 factory left hand arms, remove both from axles and turn in lathe until the surface where they mate together is flat..... use spare factory steel shims and cone washers between the two steering arms
go and buy the BEST high tensile bolts you can get and use nord washers (i think this is the right name please correct if not) they are the ducks.
i could sort the machining out for you if you need it just sort the arms out and send them to me cheers Chris

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
oh sorry... draglink ah went through heaps of boxes at BNT till i found a right and left hand thread ball joint that would do the trick, turned it up and away we go i could get part numbers for you if need be??
Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
Just check your kingpin bolts on top of that crossover before and after every trip. I have the same system and have started breaking bolts and stripping threads.
Well just a heads up anyway.
If I had teh coin id be going 6 shooter knuckles

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
If you need ECI wiring diagrams,I have some laying around.
(My brother is putting the same motor in his 73 16L colt)
I have the rare factory 150kw DASH 4g63t in my Starion
The fuel injection on these cars are a bit crap(Throttle body inj compared to the newer multi point setups)
You can also use rwd parts from the Starion on the motors-top mount turbo manifolds, oilfilter housing that have threaded holes for the factory oilcoolers etc.

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
hey here are those part #'s you wanted
tre outer ford falcon TE817R retails for $23 @ BNT
tre outer lh/rh maz 323 TE514L retails for $39 @BNT
if i had a bit more time i would have changed te514l for one with an easier thread that was some bizzare pitch but got the job done.
truck at auto sparky now wiring proved to be beyond me

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
HI everyone, wiring half done... can't wait to start the thing!!
any ideas or options on a good long shock front and rear for this thing. want it resonably stiff as it will be used for a fair bit of bunny shooting, circle work!! etc and don't want it to be so floppy other people driving it will tip it over when turning, so possibly an adjustable??
has anyone else ever mounted the front diff stay (hilux - sj410) to one of these i have looked for pics anywhere, would like a shot of a good system
oh and have found a factory power steering set up that will go on very nicely... maybe after i get it going don't want to bite off too much
cheers

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
im running Monroe , 2inch lifted shocks , mates are using rancho 5000's ,both happy with the performance. you wont fit much more of a shock in their without cutting and moving the shock towers in the front.
2 issues with the hilux diffs and Narrow track Zuks. First is the front pumpkin on the hilux diff is right in the way of where you want to put the spring perch and second is the rear hilux diff has a center pumpkin which creates real bad drive shaft angles. probably not so bad on a LWB farm worker , but not ideal. most use an offset Prado rear to get around this issue.

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
do the diff heads fit each other cos i can get a rear diff from prado no sweat but the ratios are different?????
the front angle is tight -ish but the back seems ok would def prefer right side pumpkin.
have checked out ranchos, seem ok price wise and like the adjustability.... might have to cough up more cash for the set i really want though

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
Stay well clear of rancho's. There are many brands out there without all the bad press (eyes snapping off, leaking, etc etc etc)
phone Ross Bolus (secretary of the BOP club) He'll save you.

Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker

so finally got to do some updates on the truck, been a while forgot where i was!!
.... my brake lines were a bit close to the exhaust so i hunted catalogues until i found one with a RH out
should work, however the pedal throw is a bit shorter

found a much better radiator out of a late model Jimny... bit of mucking round still for mounts etc but as close to a direct fit

and got some sweet as seats on my last trip to japan... free!!
they are from a really new 660cc turbo SJ410 (mighty wind printed on them which is fairly accurate)

a bit of heat wrap for exhaust... needs metal shrouds really but want to drive it !!!
Re: Turbo Suzuki Farmworker
what are the brakes like without a booster?
Sorry if this is a noob question if this is a standard sort of practice lol.
